I have to admit although it may seem that I’m a little bit biased because Pappie is a dear friend of mine… I’m not at all, this EP is brilliant. I swear to you… it is so good that I can’t even stop listening to it. If I wasn’t already aware of his awesomeness by virtue of having seen it with my own eyes… this would turn me into a fan. It is the perfect length for my drive to work, it’s catchy, fun, and perfect to crank up the stereo and and sing along to. I find myself getting lost in the feelings of summer, love, and the thrill of life’s limitless possibilities. It feels fresh and innocent like a 60′s beach movie where everyone is singing, dancing, and laughing at a never ending party. I just love it!
I met with Pappie this week for coffee, to catch up and strong arm an advance copy of the EP. I can tell he’s really excited about it. Many people don’t know that Pappie is also a gifted instrumentalist. To date much of his music has been produced (by him) electronically, but during rehearsals I get to see a different side to the music as he picks up his guitar, or sits down at the keyboard and plays his own music just for fun. “Indian Summer” is written, composed, arranged and produced entirely by Pappie in addition to which he also plays every instrument on the EP including; drums, bass, guitar, keyboard and organ. It’s something that I can tell he is really proud of and being more instrumental, especially during performances is something he has always wanted to explore. It is truly amazing all of the ways that this guy is talented.
In addition to his EP dropping on June 12th (download it on itunes!!!), you can catch Lil Pappie (without me *sadface*) in Winnipeg coming up on June 23rd, where he will be performing for the second year in a row at APTN’s Aboriginal Day Live, this time alongside Aboriginal hip-hop icon Joey Stylez. This is a live televised event… so don’t miss out! I hear while he’s there he will also be doing an acoustic show so tune into his webpage for more details on that! http://www.lilpappie.com/
